Hello and welcome!
In this guide, we will walk you through the process of identifying and providing the necessary information to add a new charging station to your organisation.
We will cover:
- What is the identity of a charging device
- How to locate the identity of a new or existing charging station
- Alternative methods for retrieving the identity if it’s not readily available
Let's start!
1. What is the identity of a charging device
The identity of your charging station is a unique identifier that distinguishes it from other devices. This identifier doesn't have a fixed format and is typically assigned by the manufacturer, based on either their internal standards or specific customer requirements.
Commonly, this identity may be referred to as:
- Chargebox ID (CBID)
- IMEI number
- ACU name
This identifier is crucial when adding the charging station to your organisation, as it ensures that the correct device is registered and functional within your network.
2. How to locate the identity of a new or existing charging station
If you have recently purchased a charging device, you can usually find its identity on the packaging or in the documentation that comes with the device. Look for labels or stickers that display information such as the Chargebox ID or IMEI number. This is often the easiest and quickest way to retrieve the identity of a new device.
3. Retrieving the Identity of an Existing Device
For devices where the identity is not immediately visible on the packaging or the device itself, you may need to access the station’s software. Here’s how you can retrieve the identity through software access:
-
Local Connection: If you have physical access to the charging station, connect directly to its software via a user interface or control panel. You will typically find the identity under the "General Settings" or "Device Information" section.
-
Remote Access: Many charging device manufacturers offer remote management tools. By connecting remotely to the device’s system through these tools, you can access the same settings and retrieve the identity information.
In both cases, the unique identity of the device will usually be listed clearly under general settings, making it easy to identify.
That's it!
You now know what the identity of a charging device is, how to locate it on newly purchased equipment, and alternative methods to retrieve this information for existing devices.
