Welcome on board!
This section contains answers to the most frequently asked questions by customers, which you may find valuable to share with them:
Home charging
1. What should I consider about my home charger?
Before buying one, there are a few things to know about the charging station's operation.
- Check the property’s main fuse size.
- Consider where the charging station will be installed and the power centre location.
- Find out if your car has a 1-, 2- or 3-phase internal charger.
- Find out if there are any electrical devices in the house, the operation of which could be disrupted by a power cut.
2. How to set up my home charger?
Choose the charging point from the map and click “Start charging”. You must be registered and logged in to your leasing customer account to charge with the Virta app.
- Virta mobile app
Choose the charging point from the map and click “Start charging”. You must be registered and logged in to your leasing account to charge with the Virta app.
- Virta charging tag
Show your charging tag to the reader in the charging device. You can order a charging tag and a keyring when you register. If you did not order a charging tag when registering your account, you could order it from the Virta mobile app under your account information.
3. How can I know what fuse size I need?
The main factor influencing the sizing of the charging system is the size of the main fuse of the electrical connection and its current peak load.
Especially concerning charging stations for small houses, it should be noted that, for example, a 3 X 25 A electricity connection can practically be safely connected to at most one charging point with a maximum power of 11 kW (3 x 16 A).
The main fuses must also have enough capacity for the rest of the house’s electricity consumption. For example, a 9kW sauna consumes 3 x 13A, so a 9kW sauna and 11kW charging cannot be used simultaneously.
In a house heated by direct electricity, the load of electrical connection can be so great that the charging station’s power must be set very low.
4. Is new electrical wiring needed?
A new electrical cable connects the charging station to the home’s electrical network.
It is recommended that a new electrical cable be installed from the power station to the charging station. For more detailed information, please contact your installation company.
5. Who should I contact if I move the home charger to a new property?
Regarding installation, you need to ask an electrician to manage it.
6. There is also another rechargeable car in our household. Can we also charge it with electricity using the Virta home charging device I bought as an accessory for my company car?
Only one account is connected during installation for the home charging service. Please contact Virta support to add a new account.
7. What is the warranty, and whom to contact if there is a technical problem?
The standard EV charger warranty varies from 2 years. About installation problems, please contact your installation company. About accessibility to your account and Virta mobile app, please contact Virta support to guide you based on the specific case.
8. What powers should I consider for charging?
Almost all plug-in hybrid cars are equipped with a 1-phase internal charger. A hybrid charging from an 11 kW AC charging station can use a maximum of 3.6 kW.
Fully electric cars usually have a 2- or 3-phase internal charger, so the maximum charging powers are higher (7.3 kW and 11 kW)
Note! Regarding installing the charging station, it may be necessary to turn off the electricity for a short time. If there are critical electrical devices in the house or devices that may interfere with an electrical break, please report them to the installer in advance.
Energy Pricing
9. Can I use spot pricing for my EV charging?
Currently, spot pricing is not available for home reimbursements. You should use the monthly/annual average spot price. However, we are developing this feature further.
10. What should I include in the price for EV charging?
Following your electricity bill, please include the energy price, transmission cost, and electricity tax in your pricing for EV charging. Please ensure that all applicable costs are covered.
11. How can I limit the charging power, and is that my responsibility?
Your installation company will set the initial power limitation based on the use case. Once your charger has been assigned as a home charger in the Virta Hub, you can limit the power easily via the Virta mobile app.
Reimbursement Policy
12. Why do I have to give a bank account number?
Your bank account is needed to proceed with reimbursement and to be configured in the Virta app for reimbursement management.
13. When am I reimbursed?
You will be reimbursed within 30 days after the end of the month. For any questions regarding your reimbursement, please do not hesitate to contact our support.
14. Which type of charger am I receiving?
The most cost-efficient and recommended type of chargers for home charging is Virta Single and Virta Lite. Please read more details about the device here.
