Firmware updates are needed to keep charger up and running. Professional Charging point owners (CPOs) can store their firmware files in Virta Platform (firmware library) by uploading their own firmwares to firmware library. Virta Platform notifies users about available firmware updates, if there are latest version available in the library. Then user can update firmware from admin panel without a need for a file link.
Uploading firmware library file is allowed for owners, managers, and charging network managers, but only if the firmware library module has been activated for your organisation (Organisation -tab > Edit modules, visible only for owners). At the moment, firmware library is not available for all customers of Virta. Updating firmware is allowed for owners, managers, charging network managers, and technicians. More info about roles can be found here.
How to add a new firmware file
If firmware library module has been activated to your organisation, you can see Settings -tab in Stations -section. Here you can choose if you want to send notifications for other users in your organisation about new firmware updates available. If you are owner, manager, charging network manager, or technician, you can also see station firmware types and click them open to see firmware files already added. On right hand side, you can click to upload a firmware file (this action is only allowed for owners, managers, and charging network managers).
If you click "add a new firmware update file", it opens side modal that enables you to add a new firmware update file to the library. You can either drop the file or browse computer. Charger manufacturers provide more info about file types. Then you need to choose manufacturer and model where firmware file is applied and also choose firmware version number.
