What is V2G and what is it used for?

V2G or vehicle-to-grid is a technology that enables you to utilize your electric car's battery to push energy back in to the power grid. V2G enables the charged power to be momentarily pushed back to the grid from car batteries to balance variations in energy production and consumption.

 

 

For real estates and other smart energy management features V2G helps to enable electric vehicle charging anywhere, regardless of the surroundings, location, or premise. In short V2G can balance out electricity supply and demand thus avoiding unnecessary costs of building an electricity system.

 

For the power grid V2G, charging stations also benefit the power grid on a larger scale by balancing the electricity supply and demand during peak hours.

 

V2G can be a mutually beneficial venture between consumers and energy companies. We can expect that in the future the relationship between user and energy company could be mutually beneficial when consumers are being rewarded by enabling their car batteries to be used as balancing elements for the power grid.
