How to Cancel Charging Sessions

This article walks you through understanding how to cancel charge sessions. We will cover how to do the cancellation on the Virta Hub, which roles can cancel sessions, and other conditions that need to be met before cancellation is possible.

Sometimes, you might need to cancel a charge session - a charge session is peculiar, like lasting multiple days, or the charged energy or price seems to be wrong. You can find charge sessions under the Stations tab and the History sub-tab. First, select the charging point on the top right search bar, and after that, find the faulty charge session on the list. Once you have chosen the session, the option to cancel the session appears below the session ID. Note that you need to have an Administrator or Financial support role to cancel the sessions. Other roles can see if the session is cancelled but can't cancel it themselves. The sessions do not need to happen in the same network to be cancellable, meaning that the driver also needs to belong to the same organisation as your charger (= same CPO and EMP or the CPO is a sub-organisation or parent of the EMP). In future, cancelling roaming sessions will be supported.

To cancel the session, please fill in the reason for cancellation. Only a charge from the current month that is finished and wasn’t already updated/cancelled can be cancelled. From a backend perspective, cancelling charge events works so that when cancelling a charge, we create a counter charge (with negative values for watt_hour and price) and save the user’s input in the description column of the related record.
